About UsThe Federation was formed in May 2006 so that groups that have been established for a lengthy period can help and assist those that are only just getting underway. It was formed to undertake a series of conferences in each of the nine regions and has been funded for a pilot of three. The small working committee is working with groups in each region. The first of these conferences being in the East Midlands. We will be adding group contact details constantly so please re check this website - not all groups are on at this stage. The Federation office is hosted by DGLG (www.dglg.org) and shares office space with the Pride Not Prejudice project. It is run by a committee and is formally constituted. The chair is from East Anglia Gypsy Council Peter Mercer MBE. As conferences and work gets on in the regions the committee will encourage newer groups and established groups in those areas to host a conference and engage with various agencies. The federation will share good practice and there will be a good practice guide coming out shortly. The National Federation is on the committee for the Gypsy and Traveller Law Reform process.
