HOME SPACE
Home Space Sustainable Accommodation (HSSA) is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC), which is a not-for-profit business to provide affordable, sustainable accommodation options for Local Authority Gypsy and Traveller site owners and managers including, Housing Associations and Registered Social Landlords and to provide bespoke support packages for residents that provides secure accommodation that enhances quality of life and promotes life opportunities.
Although based in the north west Home Space works as a national project.
Home Space Sustainable Accommodation CIC has taken over interim management, as agents for Carlisle City Council, on the first ever local authority owned site in the County.
The first tenants pulled on, on 24 March 2010, and the site has now 99% occupancy. This has provided for families that have been homeless and roadside or have been on a local transit site whilst waiting for local provision to be provided. Home Space Sustainable Accommodation CIC is made up members of the Gypsy and settled community that understand the needs of the Travelling communities, that is enhanced by working in partnership with local statutory agencies and officers to ensure that tenants issues and concerns are taken into account that is reflected in the provision of suitable and relevant services.
